As announced in Catalyst magazine, on July 13, 2015, Philip “Flip” Short announced the official name, Paragon Star, for the mixed-use project in Lee’s Summit, MO as well as an agreement with KC Select Soccer Club to serve as an “anchor tenant” for the new sports village. Paragon Star will be located at the intersection of View High Drive and I-470 in Lee’s Summit, MO.

Short indicated that the Paragon Star naming reflects the positioning of the project in the market as “Paragon” is defined as “a person or thing regarded as a perfect example of a particular quality”. “We’ve indicated from the on-set of this project that we were going to make it the country’s #1 amateur field sports facility and it truly will serve as a model of excellence”, said Short. “When visiting the development, we intend for the visitor to have an experience unlike any other location in the United States”.

The project will initially feature 10 synthetically turfed fields with lighting including a championship field that will feature seating for 3,500-5,000 spectators, a clubhouse with 8 adjacent volley ball courts, a biking/hiking trailhead with trails, a hotel, office building, housing, bars & restaurants and a entertainment complex featuring a theatre and bowling alley. The initial phase of the project is estimated at $154 million but total development costs are projected to exceed $200 million once the project is fully completed.
